About

Andrea Lewis, MA, LPC-S, NCC
I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), licensed in the states of Texas and Louisiana and the owner of Young at Heart Counseling Services, PLLC. I have a Master’s degree in Counseling and over 10 years of experience working in different settings with clients. I am also a gender affirming therapist. Whether you’re lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, or queer, you deserve to have a counselor who understands the difficult situations in your life. My experience includes working with adults and adolescents who have dealt with depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders, ADHD, Autism Spectrum disorders, emotional and behavioral difficulties. I have also worked with clients who have experienced trauma, grief, family issues, relationship issues, anger management, and substance use.
I’m passionate about building a therapeutic relationship with each client in my care. My commitment as a counselor is to be authentic, relatable, honest, and empathic. While each client has unique needs, my approach is Person-centered and Humanistic. I typically use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing techniques; however, I have an eclectic approach overall. I sometimes draw interventions from Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I also believe it is important to be multifaceted since therapy is not one-size-fits-all, so therapy will be an assimilation of different techniques that are catered to client needs.
As a therapist my goal is to help you uncover your true potential. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complimentary therapy approaches and techniques, we will find long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
It can be intimidating to ask for help, but this in itself is a sign of immense strength and courage. If you're looking for someone to collaboratively process with, please reach out! We are collaborators before we are therapist-client.
I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.
